Choosing the right flooring is essential when building or renovating a home. Aside from visual aesthetics, the material should also suit your needs and lifestyle. Before starting your project, ask your flooring contractor about these three options.

3 Flooring Options for Your Home Build or Remodeling

1. Porcelain Tile
Flooring contractors recommend porcelain tiles for high-moisture areas like bathrooms, basements, and other spaces that are subjected to dampness. That’s because these tiles can stand up to humidity, unlike carpets that harbor mold or hardwood floors that deteriorate when exposed to water.

2. Stone Tileflooring contractor

If you’re a pet owner who wants floors that are easy to maintain, ask your flooring contractor to install stone tiles. Unlike rugs that trap animal dander and other allergens, stone tiles are easy to clean and don’t retain impurities. Remember to avoid acidic cleaners, as these can break down the sealant and corrode the stone.

3. Ceramic Tile
Ceramic is similar to porcelain with the main difference between the two being their water-absorption capabilities. Porcelain absorbs less water than ceramic. But, what makes ceramic popular is the range of intricate styles it comes in. It’s also cheaper than most other flooring materials, making it an excellent option if you’re on a limited budget. Ceramic is also low-maintenance. Aside from regular sweeping and mopping, you only need to reseal it every 4-5 years to keep it in tip-top shape.
